Many of us have a general idea of what living a religious life is about. But some people feel that religious people have to be perfect in all aspect of their lives and live an almost perfect lifestyle in order to have a union with God.
But that could not be farther from the truth.
God wants us all – scars, fears, imperfections and all. He’s not waiting for us to be perfect in order for Him to love us. No, He loves us as we are.
How great is that?
I was on the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston website looking for answers about this topic when I found a video that explained the eight myths of religious life.
Did you know, most people think that:
- Religious orders are dying out.
- Nuns teach and Priests say Mass.
- Taking vows is strange.
- Religious life is a life of suffering.
- That the religious pray constantly.
- They think the religious are docile.
- Religious give up their family and friends.
- And that religious people are asexual.
This video explains what living a religious lifestyle is in today’s world.
I loved when the narrator of this video said Religious life is a way to live not a line of work. And as you just saw, there are many professionals such as doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers and administrators who also serve and live a religious life.
So come as you are. God is waiting for you!
Over To You
