After Sunday Mass, we go on about our day. Most of us are parents planning weekly meals, grocery shopping and maybe helping out a child with a school project.
Then there’s the night time ritual of bath time and fussing with the kids to go to sleep.
There is lots to do for the new week and we want to make sure everything is done before our head hits the pillow.
And in the midst of all that crazy, did you remember to praise God? Did you practice what you learned in Mass?
Nowadays, the hustle and bustle of life has us moving at warp speed. Families are always on the go. Between work, school, after school programs and life in general, we are often so busy that we forget to take time to have a private moment with God to give him thanks and praise.
But I’m not writing this to point fingers and make you feel bad. Life has become fast-paced and we’re just trying to keep up with it.
And I can definitely relate because I’m guilty of this myself.
What I do want to do is show you how we can keep God in our life and praise him on a daily basis.
And it doesn’t have to be a big to-do. It’s in the things you do for yourself and for others.
How To Keep God In Your Life – 6 Easy Ways
Just take a look at these seven ways you and your family can keep God in your lives.
First, start with a daily prayer. Nothing will get your day started off on the right foot than with a prayer in the morning. Before you start your day, take a moment to thank God for the day and ask for his guidance and blessing throughout the day.
Attend Mass as a family
A family that prays together stays together. I know, that’s just a saying but it does hold some truth. The bible says when two or more people are gathered in His name, He is there.
Attending Mass as a family not only strengthens the family unit but it also helps our children know God. And that will stay with them as they grow older and have a family of their own.
I’m personally thankful my grandmother took me to church with her when I was a little girl. And I love to see my children connecting with God and my daughter talking to her children about the Lord.
Being involved in the church community is a great way to keep God in your life. After all, we are taught to serving others and do it in His name.
If you would love to help out at Immaculate Conception Church, please call the parish office at 713-921-1261 to find out how you can help.
And coming soon, we’ll have it here on the website!
You can also attend bible study to learn about the word of God then set some time with the family to talk with them about what you learned.
Check out the church bulletin for the date and time of Bible study at Immaculate Conception Church.
Read the Bible daily
Just like praying daily, we should nurture our spirit with the daily Word. Take a moment to read the bible daily. You can do it in the morning before you start your day or at night before you go to bed.
And if you’re always on the go, you can download the Bible app to take the word of God with you.
Last but not least, you can also help out in your community. For example, you can volunteer at a pet shelter, food bank or you can join programs like Meals on Wheels.
The bible also reminds us to praise God daily and for every situation. Here are some bible verses that encourage us to do so:
Praise the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
Praise the Lord.
And here are more bible verses about praising God:
Praise him—he is your God, and you have seen with your own eyes the great and astounding things that he has done for you. (Deuteronomy 10:21)
Praise the LORD who has given his people peace, as he promised he would. (1 Kings 8:56)
The LORD is my strong defender; he is the one who has saved me. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will sing about his greatness. (Exodus 15:2)
I will tell of the LORD’s unfailing love; I praise him for all he has done for us. He has richly blessed the people of Israel because of his mercy and constant love. (Isaiah 63:7)
We proclaim how great you are
and tell of the wonderful things you have done. (Psalm 75:1)
Praise the Lord, all people on earth,
praise his glory and might. (1 Chronicles 16:28)
God is wise and powerful! Praise him forever and ever. (Daniel 2:20)
Sing to the LORD! Praise the LORD! He rescues the oppressed from the power of evil people. (Jeremiah 20:13)
Let us praise God for his glorious grace, for the free gift he gave us in his dear Son! (Ephesians 1:5)
The more you practice keeping God in your life and putting him first, the more you will see His grace working in your life.
Praising God in every situation brings us peace and joy. But most of all, it pleases God.
So I encourage you to lift up your voice and praise our Lord in every circumstance.
